SEIU 509

UNITED WE WIN Slate

We’re Running For an

ORGANIZING Union

The United We Win slate is a team of experienced organizers running for leadership in SEIU 509 to build the unified and powerful union we need to take on big fights and win what workers deserve.

DAVE FOLEY
FOR PRESIDENT

Since taking office as SEIU 509 President 3 years ago, Dave has led our union through a period of incredible growth in numbers and in strength. From state workers winning a 19% wage increase to the longest higher education strike in recent history, under Dave’s leadership, we’ve embraced open bargaining and empowered members to take on bigger fights than ever and win.

Now Dave is running for re-election because he knows that with the threat of austerity and the labor movement under attack, our vision for a powerful, organizing-focused local is more essential than ever before.

Griselda Tomaino
FOR TREASURER

A therapist, licensed social worker, fluent Spanish and Portuguese speaker, and organizer, Griselda Tomaino has spent her life fighting for the multi-racial, multi-lingual working class. After years working with the Brazilian Workers Center as a volunteer organizer, intake specialist, interpreter, ESOL for Social Justice teacher, and eventually Vice President of the Board of Directors, Griselda is now a Bilingual Outpatient Therapist at North Suffolk Community Services.

Griselda is running for Treasurer because she believes the Treasurer’s position is not meant to be a career appointment, but rather a role where our diverse membership can step up and shape our union’s future.

Samantha CLARK
FOR Recording Secretary

As Secretary of Grievances for the Chapter on Criminal Justice, Samantha knows how important accurate and accessible information is for our union’s work. Samantha is running for Recording Secretary to ensure that the Joint Executive Board, our union’s governing body, is transparent and accountable to every member of SEIU 509— not just the chapter leaders who serve on the board.

Chapter Leadership Slate

In addition to the three local-wide executive officers who serve all of 509, each chapter has elected leaders who shapes the work our union does. Our slate’s candidates for chapter leadership are running to bring a new energy and vision to their chapters and help build a stronger 509 from the bottom up.
